Our engineered wood floor restoration process:
- Step 1 – Free site survey. We estimate the cost and agree on the best way to meet your requirements. A time and date for the work to be carried out will be arranged.
- Step 2 – The restoration begins by sanding. This will strip any previously applied lacquer or oils to bring back the untreated boards. Our industrial belt and planetary sanding machines smooth the boards flat, or if belt sanders are not suitable for your modern engineered boards we use a new specialist three head machine.
- Step 3 – We use dustless edging machines to strip old sealers around the edges up to the skirting. To ensure that no fine scratches are left after sanding we use our three head finishing machines.
- Step 4 – Different finishes and stain options can now be chosen. We can use samples on the floor so you can get a good impression. We can apply a hard-wearing natural lacquer or, if you want to change the look of the floor completely, we can use a stain.
- Step 5 – We apply a base coat to create the first stage of protection.
- Step 6 – When the base coat is dry we carry out a final sanding to remove any areas that push up from the sealer, preparing the floor for the finish.
- Step 7 – We apply two coats of top finish, usually a 1 or 2 pack lacquer. We can apply oils if there has been a colour change or if a higher level of smoothness is needed.
- Step 8 – When the floor is dry, our work is finished. The floor will be ready for handover. We can help with moving back your furniture, then for the next few hours there can only be light foot traffic with socks and slippers.
