- Step 1 – We begin with a free site survey and provide a written estimate. We discuss in detail the requirements of the floor and the best restoration options for you. Once we’ve agreed a full cost for the project, we arrange suitable dates and times for work to be completed.
- Step 2 – Once we arrive at your business or home, we begin the restoration by sanding the boards to remove old oils and lacquer. Our large industrial belt and planetary sanding machines make the boards extremely smooth and flat. This will let us create the best possible finish. We have a new 3 head machine perfect for modern engineered boards where belt sanders can’t be used.
- Step 3 – We strip away old sealers around all edges of the floor right up to the skirting boards. We use a dustless edging machine and our 3 head finishing machine to get rid of any fine scratches. This leaves the wooden floor smooth and ready for sealing.
- Step 4 – We demonstrate stain and finish options. We will apply these to the floor so you know what the finished job will look like. We can apply a natural lacquer for a hard-wearing finish or we can use a stain instead. This will add colour to dramatically change the look of the floor.
- Step 5 – A base coat is applied to fill up the wood, creating a primary stage of protection.
- Step 6 – When the base coat has dried we complete a light sanding of the floor. We sand one final time to remove any areas that push up from the base coat of the sealer.
- Step 7 – We will apply 2 coats of top finish, this can be a 1 or 2 pack lacquer. If a premium level of smoothness is requested or if there has been a change of colour then we can also apply oils.
- Step 8 – When the floor is dry, it is ready for final customer sign-off. You are ok to walk on the floor after a couple of hours.
