The WoodMaster floor staining process:
- Step 1 – Site survey: We will provide a full written estimate and we will discuss the best approach. We agree on the cost and then schedule a suitable time and date to attend.
- Step 2 – Full sanding of the boards to strip all old lacquer and oils. This brings back the virgin boards. Our large industrial belt and planetary sanding machines leave the wooden floor smooth and flat, or our 3 head machine, custom made for modern engineered boards, can be used for cases where a belt sander can’t be used.
- Step 3 – When the old sealer has been stripped away, we treat the floor with our 3 head finishing machine to sand out micro-fine scratches. The floor is now ready for sealer.
- Step 4 – We give you a demonstration of the possible finishes and stains. We apply these on the floor so you can see exactly what the finish will look like. We can use a natural lacquer for a beautiful and durable finish or stains can be applied if you would like to change the look of the floor more dramatically.
- Step 5 – Next, a base coat will be applied to fill up the wood and provide the initial layer of protection.
- Step 6 – When the base coat is dry, we sand the floor once again to remove any areas that prickle up from the base coat.
- Step 7 – We apply two coats of top finish either a 1 or 2 pack lacquer depending on the wood. We then apply oils when a colour change has taken place or when an extra high level of smoothness is needed.
- Step 8 – When everything is dry, the floor is ready to use once again. We’ll let you know how long you should wait before walking on the floor.
