The WoodMaster wooden floor restoration process:

• Step 1 – Before we begin, we offer a free site survey. A full written estimate will be given and we’ll agree on the best approach. We’ll provide the full costs of the service and book suitable dates to complete the work.
• Step 2 – We’ll begin by sanding the boards to strip old oils and to bring back the bare wood. We have large industrial belt and planetary sanding machines for this to ensure that the boards are as smooth and flat as possible. We have a new 3 head machine designed for newer engineered boards where belt sanders can’t be used.
• Step 3 – Stripping old sealers around all the edges up to the skirting boards. We use our dust-free edging machines and then treat the floor using our 3 head finishing machine. This polishes out micro-fine scratches from the sanding process. When complete, the floor is smooth and primed ready for sealer.
• Step 4  We demonstrate samples of finishes and stains so you can see what the floor will look like when we’ve completed our work. We can apply a natural lacquer which will give a tough, long-lasting finish or we can use a stain to change the colour of the floor.
• Step 5 – A base coat fills up the wood and adds a layer of protection.
• Step 6 – Once the base coat is dry, we gently sand the floor to remove any areas that spike up from the base coat. This prepares the floor for the finish.
• Step 7 – We will apply two coats of top finish, a 1 or 2 pack lacquer depending on the type of wood. We can apply oils when a colour change has taken place or if a higher level of smoothness is needed.
• Step 8 – When dry, the restoration is complete. We hand over the floor to you. Furniture can now be replaced and the floors are usually ready for walking on in socks and slippers after a few hours.
