WoodMaster Stockport’s wooden floor restoration process:

• Step 1 – We begin with a free site survey. A full written estimate will be provided and we will agree upon the best approach for your wooden floor. We’ll sign off the full cost of our service and arrange suitable dates to complete the waxing or oiling. We take pride in always arriving on time and completing the job on schedule.
• Step 2 – We begin by sanding the boards to remove old oils and to restore the bare wood. We use large industrial belt and planetary sanding machines to ensure that the boards are flat and smooth. We have a new 3 head machine for newly engineered boards where belt sanders are incompatible.
• Step 3 – Old sealers are stripped around all the edges right up to the skirting boards. Our dust-free edging machines work perfectly for this. We then treat the floor with our 3 head finishing machine. This will polish out minute scratches that sometimes occur during the sanding process. Once finished the floor will be smooth and primed ready for the sealer.
• Step 4 – We demonstrate samples of finishes and stain options to give an idea of what the floor will look like when we’ve finished. We can use a natural lacquer for a beautiful, long-lasting finish, or use a stain to change the colour of the floor completely.
• Step 5 – To fill up the wood and to add a layer of protection, we then apply a base coat.
• Step 6 – When the base coat is dry, we lightly sand the floor. This removes any areas that prickle up from the base coat and prepares the floor for the finish.
• Step 7 – We will apply 2 coats of top finish, which can be a 1 or 2 pack lacquer depending on the type of wood. We can also apply oils after a colour change has taken place or if more smoothness is required. 
• Step 8 – When dry, the floor is finished and the restoration is complete. We will then complete the final handover, replace the furniture and the floors are normally ready for walking on in socks and slippers after just a few hours.

After the restoration is finished, we will provide full maintenance advice. Our after-care products are also available for purchase on request.
